Karen Hendry
|
Choreographer - Karen Hendry
Karen trained at the Helen Ford and Helen Young schools of dance, starting at age six, then first became involved with amateur dramatics in 1982, primarily as a dancer, with various clubs throughout Glasgow. Her choreographic debut was in 1987 and, since then, she has worked on many productions for a number of clubs, including; An evening with Cole Porter, Kiss Me Kate, The Boyfriend, Hello Dolly, Me and My Girl, Annie, Fiddler on the Roof, Anything Goes and My Fair Lady, to name but a few.
Although Karen is also a qualified aerobics teacher, working briefly in this role, it is the bright lights of the theatre that are closest to her heart and she is currently working on her first Pantomime (oh, yes it is!); a production of Cinderella, which is to be staged by the Minerva club in the Mitchell Theatre Glasgow later this year.
This will be a double first for Karen - working with East Kilbride Light Opera Club and working on Carousel. She is looking forward to it and hopes the club will enjoy the challenge and rise to the occasion with her.
